Privacy policy
Last updated September 23, 2026
BidetBud is a map of bidet-equipped restrooms at bidetbud.com, and the BidetBud iOS and Android apps that wrap the same map. There is no account system and no advertising. This page is the privacy policy for the website and the apps.
What we do not do
- We do not create user accounts or require sign-in.
- We do not show ads or use advertising SDKs.
- We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
Location
If you tap Near me, BidetBud asks the operating system for your approximate or precise location so it can show bidet spots near you. Location stays on your device for that search. We do not run a location-history service and we do not use location for ads.
You can refuse the permission. The map still works; Near me will not.
Photos and camera
When you suggest a spot, you may attach an optional photo. On Android the app uses the system photo picker (one picture you choose), not broad access to your library. On iOS you may take a photo or pick one. A photo is sent only if you attach it to a submission.
Spot submissions
Suggest-a-spot and similar forms are emailed through Web3Forms so we can review them before anything goes on the map. A submission can include a place name, address or area, notes, and an optional photo. Do not send information you do not want emailed to us.
Approved places appear on the public map (name, address, coordinates, and source notes). We do not publish your email as part of a pin.
Analytics
The website uses GoatCounter for simple page-view counts. It is designed not to use cookies and not to identify you. The apps load the same map and may record the same kind of counts when you are online.
Map data and tiles
Place listings are our published seed data. Map tiles come from OpenStreetMap tile servers. Those requests go to those providers, not to a BidetBud backend.
When the app is online it may refresh the public seed from bidetbud.com. A copy of the seed is also stored on your device so the map works offline.
What stays on your device
The site and apps may keep a local copy of the map data and a few UI preferences (for example, last filters) in browser or WebView storage. You can clear that with the usual site-data or app-storage controls.
Children
BidetBud is a general-audience map, not a children’s service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
There is no account to delete. You can deny location or photo permissions, skip photos on a submission, and uninstall the app or stop using the site. To ask us to take down or correct a place listing, use the in-app report / suggest-an-update flow or contact us below.
Contact
Questions about this policy, or a request about a listing: open an issue at github.com/ymorsi7/bidetbud, or use the contact email on the BidetBud App Store or Google Play listing.
Changes
If this policy changes in a material way, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date.
